Chadbourne Gulch/Blues Beach in Mendocino County is an exposed beach break with fairly reliable surf, especially when distant groundswells from the west-southwest align with offshore winds from the east. The spot offers both left and right-hand waves, with optimal conditions typically occurring around mid tide. While summer can bring ideal surf, winter—particularly January—offers the most consistent clean waves. It can get busy in the lineup when it's working. Hazards include rip currents, rocks, sharks, and localism.
