South Carlsbad State Beach in San Diego County is an exposed beach break known for its consistency and quality waves, especially during the winter months. It performs best when a west-southwest swell meets offshore winds from the east, creating clean, rideable conditions. The beach offers both left and right-hand peaks and tends to work best around mid tide. While the break is popular and can get crowded during good swells, the atmosphere is generally laid-back.
