Carlsbad City Beach in San Diego County is a reliable exposed beach break that works year-round, with the best surf occurring when a West swell meets offshore winds from the Northeast. Winter, particularly January, offers the most consistent clean waves, present about 52% of the time. The break provides both left and right-handers and is best surfed around high tide. It receives distant groundswells and is usually uncrowded, offering a more peaceful session. However, surfers should be cautious, as strong rips can make conditions dangerous.
