Brooks Street in North Orange County is a punchy, semi-exposed reef and beach break over a sand and rock bottom, known for its fast, high-performance lefts—best conditions typically arrive in summer and early fall. Offshore northeast winds clean up south and southwest swells, producing steep takeoffs and rippable walls that hug the reefy section near shore. The wave works best during mid to high tide, offering more push and safety over shallow rock zones. It’s a local favorite with a competitive vibe when the waves are on, particularly during large summer swells. Surfers should be alert to shallow rocks, strong rip currents, and crowd pressure. The most consistent clean waves occur in summer, especially July through September.
