Local Knowledge
Balian, a consistent exposed reef break on Bali's west coast, offers both left and right-hand waves. The prime surfing season is the dry season, from May to October. The most favorable conditions are a southwest groundswell with offshore winds from the northeast. The break works well at all tide stages, but surfers should be mindful of rocks and the potential for crowds when the surf is good. Consistent, clean waves are most likely to be found in March.
