Las Gaviotas is a mellow right-hand reef break that offers fun, cruisy waves well suited for beginners and intermediate surfers. It works best with southern swells and lighter winds, producing waist- to shoulder-high waves that favor long rides and smooth turns rather than power. The break can handle a range of tide levels and is generally consistent when swell is present. While the wave is forgiving and approachable, surfers should still be cautious of rocks and the shallow reef, especially on lower tides.
