Local Knowledge & Surf Guide
Local Knowledge
Punta Colorados in Baja Sur is a reasonably exposed reef break that doesn’t work very often. Offshore winds blow from the southwest, and the break receives a mix of groundswells and windswells, with the best swell direction coming from the southeast. It offers right-hand reef breaks and is rarely crowded when waves are present. Surfers should be cautious of submerged rocks. The best conditions occur when a southeast swell combines with a southwest offshore wind, with the most consistent clean, rideable waves typically found in summer, especially in July.
