Local Knowledge & Surf Guide
Local Knowledge
Punta Arenas in Baja Sur is a fairly exposed beach and point break with consistent surf, especially during summer when conditions are optimal. The break primarily receives distant groundswells from the south and works best with offshore winds from the northwest. It is rarely crowded, but surfers should watch out for hazards such as sea urchins, rips, rocks, local surfers, and pollution. The best conditions occur when a south swell combines with a northwest offshore wind, with the most reliable clean, rideable waves typically found in summer, particularly in September.
