Local Knowledge
El Pescadero in Baja Sur is an exposed beach and reef break with reliable surf that works year-round, mainly powered by groundswells with the optimum swell direction from the west–southwest. Offshore winds from the northeast help shape clean conditions, favoring the right-hand reef break, though a left reef is also present, and the spot works well across all stages of the tide. Crowds are usually light, but surfers should stay alert for hazards such as rocks, sea urchins, and strong rips. The most consistent clean, rideable waves are typically found during winter, particularly in January.
