Playa de Mendía in Asturias is a fairly exposed beach break that offers quite consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. This spot provides both left and right-hand waves from an equal measure of windswells and groundswells; while it is best surfed around low tide and is unlikely to be crowded, visitors should take care to avoid submerged rocks. The best conditions occur when a North-northwest swell combines with South offshore winds, with January being the prime month for consistent, clean waves.
