El Mongol in Asturias is a fairly exposed reef break that usually has waves, with winter being the optimum time of year for surfing. This spot provides a right-hand wave over a reef bottom from a mix of groundswells and windswells; while it is best surfed around high tide, visitors should be mindful of submerged rocks and the fact that it is often crowded. The best conditions occur when a North-northwest swell combines with Southeast offshore winds, with October being the prime month for consistent, clean waves.
