Local Knowledge & Surf Guide
Local Knowledge
Playa El Palmar in Andalucia is a fairly exposed beach break with reasonably consistent surf, best during winter and spring. It works best with offshore winds from the east, while light onshore winds tend to produce poor surf. The waves come from a mix of groundswells and windswells, with the ideal swell direction from the southwest. The beach break mainly offers right-hand waves and is surfable at all stages of the tide. It’s often crowded, and surfers should watch out for dangerous rips.
