Mill Bay in Kodiak Island, Alaska is a sheltered beach break offering fairly consistent surf, especially during winter. The best conditions occur when offshore winds from the southwest coincide with swells coming from the east-northeast. This spot receives a mix of groundswells and windswells, producing both left and right-hand waves. January is often the prime month for clean, rideable surf. Although rarely crowded, surfers should be cautious of strong rips.
