📍 Local Knowledge

Westport Breakwater on the West Coast is an exposed beach break that has inconsistent surf with no particular seasonal pattern. The best conditions occur when a Northwest swell (a mix of groundswells and windswells) combines with an offshore East-southeast wind. The beach offers both left and right-hand waves and is rarely crowded. Surfers should watch out for dangerous rips at this location. The best time of year for consistent, clean waves is during the winter, particularly the month of July.
