๐Ÿ“ Local Knowledge

Nine Mile on the West Coast is an exposed beach and reef break that offers quite reliable surf throughout the year, featuring a notable left-hand reef break alongside beach waves. It picks up a mix of groundswells and windswells, with the ideal swell direction from the westโ€“southwest and offshore winds typically coming from the east. The best conditions reported at Nine Mile occur when a westโ€“southwest swell combines with an offshore east wind, creating clean, rideable waves. The spot remains uncrowded even when surf is up, though surfers should stay alert for dangerous rips. The most consistent clean waves typically happen in winter, especially during July.
