Current Conditions

POOR
Poor conditions right now. Tiny waves under 1ft with quality 9s ground swell but strong 15kt winds making it choppy Note: winds from E would be better. Might want to wait for better conditions.

📍 Local Knowledge

Little Wanganui on the North West Coast is an exposed beach and river bar break that does not work very often and has no particular seasonal pattern. The best conditions occur when a West-northwest groundswell combines with an offshore wind direction from the East. The beach break offers both left and right-hand waves, and the quality of the surf is not affected by the tide. Even when there are waves, it is not likely to be crowded, though surfers should be wary of dangerous rips. The best time of year for consistent, clean waves is during the winter, particularly the month of August.
