๐Ÿ“ Local Knowledge

Cobden Beach โ€“ The Channel on the West Coast is an exposed beach break with quite reliable surf that can work year-round, offering mainly left-hand waves that perform best around high tide. It picks up both groundswells and windswells, with an ideal swell direction from the westโ€“southwest, and works best in offshore winds from the northeast, with the best conditions reported when a westโ€“southwest swell combines with an offshore southeast wind. The area is rarely crowded even when the surf is up, but surfers should be cautious of dangerous rips, with the most consistent clean and rideable waves occurring during winter, particularly in July.
