Current Conditions

POOR
Poor conditions right now. Tiny waves under 1ft with quality 9s ground swell but strong 15kt winds making it choppy Note: winds from ESE would be better. Might want to wait for better conditions.

📍 Local Knowledge

Charleston on the West Coast is a reasonably exposed beach and river bar break that offers fairly consistent surf year-round, featuring all left-hand waves that perform well at all tide stages. The break receives an equal mix of windswells and groundswells, with the ideal swell direction from the west–southwest and offshore winds from the east–southeast. The best conditions reported at Charleston occur when a west–southwest swell combines with an offshore east–southeast wind, creating clean, rideable waves. The spot is unlikely to be crowded even when the surf is good, but surfers should be cautious of strong rips, with the most consistent clean waves typically found in winter, especially during June.
