📍 Local Knowledge

Blaketown Wedge on the West Coast is an exposed river break that produces unreliable waves with no strong seasonal pattern, receiving a mix of groundswells and windswells, with the river mouth waves typically peeling to the right. The best swell direction is from the southwest, while the ideal wind direction is offshore from the southeast, with the best conditions reported when a southwest swell combines with a southeast offshore wind. The spot is rarely crowded, can be challenging due to dangerous rips, and offers its most consistent clean and rideable waves during winter, particularly in the month of June.
