📍 Local Knowledge
Seconds (White Rock) in The Wairarapa is an exposed point break that has quite reliable surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. The best conditions occur when a Southeast swell, consisting of a mix of groundswells and windswells, combines with an offshore wind direction from the North-northwest. There is no shelter from cross-shore breezes here, though the surf remains reasonable in light onshore winds. Despite its name, there is no traditional point break at this location. It is unlikely to be crowded even when there are waves, but surfers should watch out for hazards including rips, rocks, and seals.
