๐Ÿ“ Local Knowledge

Pararaki Stream in The Wairarapa is an exposed beach break that has quite reliable surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. The best conditions occur when a South swellโ€”which is just as likely to be a local windswell as a distant groundswellโ€”combines with an offshore wind direction from the Northeast. There is no shelter from cross-shore breezes here, and the beach breaks offer both left and right-hand waves that perform best around mid-tide. It is unlikely to be crowded even when the surf is up, though surfers should take care to avoid rocks in the lineup.
