📍 Local Knowledge

Shi Shi Beach in Washington is an exposed beach break known for its scenic isolation and variable surf, with the best conditions typically occurring in winter, especially December and January. It receives a reliable mix of groundswells and windswells, with ideal swell directions from the west to northwest. Offshore winds from the east help create cleaner, more organized waves. The beach offers both lefts and rights, depending on the sandbar formations and swell angle. Shi Shi is rarely crowded due to the long hike required to access it, and surfers should be aware of hazards such as rips, shifting sandbars, wildlife, and the remote location.
