Ocean Shores in Washington State is a sheltered breakwater break with quite consistent surf, with the best conditions usually occurring in spring and summer. The spot receives waves equally from local windswells and distant groundswells, with the ideal swell direction from the west-southwest. Offshore winds from the east create the cleanest surf. Even when waves are up, the spot is unlikely to be crowded. Surfers should be cautious of rips and undertow. The most consistent clean waves are typically found in winter, especially January.
