📍 Local Knowledge
Crescent Beach in Washington State is a beginner- to intermediate-friendly beach break that requires a strong west to northwest swell to come to life. It works best at mid to high tide, though it can briefly go flat at dead high tide. Offshore winds from the south to southwest create the cleanest conditions, and while the break can close out at surf sizes above 6 feet, strong SW or SE winds can help hold the shape. It's generally mellow but can deliver fun rides under the right conditions. Kayakers are welcome, and with a modest day-use fee, visitors enjoy private beach access, parking, and hot showers. Adjacent to Salt Creek State Park, Crescent sees its best surf when a WNW swell meets S-SE offshore winds, particularly in the winter months, with January offering the most consistent clean waves.
