📍 Local Knowledge

Surfside Beach Octagone in Texas is an exposed sandbar break with quite consistent surf, especially during the hurricane season. It performs best when a southeast swell combines with offshore winds from the northwest. Most of the surf comes from local windswells rather than distant groundswells, and the quality of the waves is not affected by the tide. When conditions are good, it can get crowded. Surfers should be cautious of rips, undertow, and sharks. The best time for consistent, clean waves is during Winter, with January being the most reliable month.
