📍 Local Knowledge

JP Luby Pier in Texas is an exposed beach/pier break with pretty consistent surf, especially during the hurricane season. It performs best when a southeast swell combines with offshore winds from the west-northwest. The waves are mostly local windswells rather than distant groundswells and the break is surfable at all tide stages. It can get crowded sometimes. Surfers should beware of rips, obstacles, sharks, and jellyfish. The best time for consistent, clean waves is during Winter, with January being the most reliable month.
