📍 Local Knowledge

Horace Caldwell Pier in Texas is a quite exposed beach/pier break with reasonably consistent surf, especially during the hurricane season. It performs best when a southeast swell combines with offshore winds from the northwest. The waves are mainly local windswells rather than distant groundswells, offering both lefts and rights. Surf quality is not affected by the tide, but it can get crowded when conditions are good. Surfers should beware of rips, obstacles, sharks, and jellyfish. The best time for consistent, clean waves is during Winter, with December being the most reliable month.
