📍 Local Knowledge

Galveston - Flagship Pier in Texas is an exposed beach/pier break with fairly consistent surf, especially during the hurricane season. It performs best when a southeast swell combines with offshore winds from the northwest. Most of the surf is generated by local windswells rather than distant groundswells. The beach break offers both lefts and rights and is often crowded when the waves are good. Surfers should watch out for rips, rocks, sharks, and jellyfish. The best time for consistent, clean waves is during Winter, with February being the most reliable month.
