📍 Local Knowledge

Boca Chica in Texas is an exposed beach/jetty break with reasonably consistent surf. It performs best when a northeast swell combines with offshore winds from the west. The surf is mostly generated by local windswells rather than distant groundswells, and the break favors left-hand waves. Good surf is available at all stages of the tide, and it is unlikely to get crowded even when the waves are up. Surfers should watch out for rips, rocks, sharks, and jellyfish. The best time for consistent, clean waves is during Autumn, with December being the most reliable month.
