Asilah in Tanger to Rabat is an exposed beach break that offers its most consistent surfing opportunities during the autumn and winter months, though it can provide dependable waves at any time of the year. It performs best when a strong northwest swell combines with offshore winds from the east. The waves arrive in the form of both Atlantic groundswells and windswells, producing a variety of left and right-hand peaks across the sandy shoreline that can become quite punchy and hollow when a solid swell is running. The surf is notably versatile and remains rideable at all stages of the tide, though it often provides the cleanest faces on a rising mid-tide. While it is a popular and easily accessible spot along this stretch of coast, the lineup can become quite crowded when the conditions are optimal. Surfers should exercise caution and stay alert for hazards such as strong lateral currents and dangerous rips.
