Aroussa Bahe in Tanger to Rabat is a quite exposed beach and reef break that offers its most consistent surfing opportunities during the autumn and winter months, while the summer is typically flat. It performs best when a strong northwest swell combines with offshore winds from the southeast. Most of the waves arrive in the form of clean Atlantic groundswells, producing a long, peeling right-hand peak over the rocky and sandy bottom that can become quite punchy when a solid swell is running. The surf is notably versatile and remains rideable at all stages of the tide, though it often provides the cleanest faces on a rising mid-tide. While it is a well-known spot along the Moroccan coast, the expansive nature of the break usually allows for a manageable lineup even when the conditions are optimal. Surfers should exercise caution and stay alert for hazards such as strong lateral currents and dangerous submerged rocks.
