πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Surfside Pier in South Carolina is an exposed beach break that only works under ideal conditions and shows no strong seasonal pattern. It receives a mix of local windswells and distant groundswells, with the best swell direction from the southeast and offshore winds from the northwest. The break works best around mid tide as it’s rising. When surf is up, the lineup can get busy. Hazards include sharks. The best conditions occur when southeast swells align with northwest winds. Winter, particularly December, offers the most consistent clean waves.
