πŸ“ Local Knowledge

South Island, stretching along the southern end of Pleasure Island, is a quiet beach-break known for its shifting sandbars and mellow waves that appeal to relaxed or longboard-oriented surfers. It performs best in late summer, early fall, and early spring, particularly around October, when swells from tropical storms, nor’easters, and passing frontal systems provide more consistent energy, often cleaned up by offshore breezes. Surf is most rideable near low to mid tide, delivering fun lefts and rights over clean sand. Crowds remain minimal due to its less-visible location, but surfers should be aware that changing currents and shifting sandbars can create unpredictable conditions.
