📍 Local Knowledge

North Island is a remote, undeveloped beach-break reachable only by boat, offering pristine surf conditions across shifting sandbars. It performs best in late summer, early fall, and early spring, when southeast and south swells align with offshore winds and the coastline is more exposed to incoming swell. The break is most consistent around low to mid tide, delivering waist-to-overhead peaks for intermediate to advanced surfers. Expect minimal crowds due to the difficult access, but be prepared: strong currents, remoteness, and occasional shark presence make this a spot for experienced, well-equipped surfers.
