📍 Local Knowledge

Myrtle Beach (The Yachtsman Pier) in South Carolina is an exposed beach and pier break with generally unreliable waves. Offshore winds come from the northwest, and the spot receives a mix of groundswells and windswells, with the ideal swell direction from the southeast. The beach offers both left and right-hand waves and works best around low tide. It can get crowded at times, with rips and crowds being the main hazards. The best surf conditions occur when southeast swells combine with northwest winds. Winter, particularly December, provides the most consistent clean waves.
