π Local Knowledge
Isle of Palms Pier in South Carolina is an exposed beach and pier break that only works occasionally and has no consistent seasonal pattern. It performs best with offshore winds from the northwest and a southeast swell, drawing energy from both local windswells and distant groundswells. The break offers left and right-hand waves and is best surfed around low tide as itβs rising. While it can be sometimes crowded, overcrowding may pose hazards in the water. The best conditions occur when a southeast swell meets northwest winds, with the most consistent clean waves usually seen in winter, particularly in November.
