📍 Local Knowledge

Folly Beach in South Carolina is a fairly exposed beach break with reliable surf that can work year-round. It performs best with offshore winds from the northwest and a swell direction from the east-northeast, primarily fueled by groundswells. The beach break offers both left and right-hand waves, and surf quality is unaffected by tide. It can get crowded when conditions are good, and surfers should be prepared to navigate dangerous rips. The best conditions occur when an east-northeast swell aligns with northwest winds, with the most consistent clean waves typically seen in winter, especially in November.
