📍 Local Knowledge

Folly Beach Pier in South Carolina is a fairly exposed beach and pier break that only works occasionally and has no consistent seasonal pattern. It performs best with offshore winds from the northwest and a northeast swell, primarily fueled by groundswells. The break favors left-hand waves and is best surfed around mid-tide when the tide is rising. It can get crowded when working, and surfers should be cautious of rips, jellyfish, jet skis, and pollution. The best conditions occur when a northeast swell aligns with northwest winds, with the most consistent clean waves typically found in winter, especially in November.
