πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Popoyo Outer Reef is an exposed reef break in Nicaragua that produces powerful and hollow waves. It works best with offshore winds from the east and strong groundswells from the southwest. The most favorable conditions occur when a southwest swell combines with light offshore east winds. The spot offers both left and right-hand barrels and is usually uncrowded, attracting only experienced surfers. Strong rips and sharp reef make it challenging and dangerous at size. The best time for consistent, clean surf is during the summer months, particularly from May to August.
