π Local Knowledge
Playa Maderas is an exposed beach break in Nicaragua that delivers fun, consistent surf when swell is strong. It works best with offshore winds from the east and groundswells from the southwest. The most favorable conditions occur when a southwest swell combines with light offshore east winds. The break provides both left and right-hand waves, and while it can draw a crowd on solid days, the lineup often feels manageable. Surfers should be cautious of rips and shifting sandbars. The best time for consistent, clean surf is during the Pacific swell season, especially from May to September.
