📍 Local Knowledge

Second Beach in Rhode Island is a fairly exposed beach break that often works year-round. The ideal wind direction is from the north-northeast. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells, with the best swell direction from the southeast. The spot can sometimes get crowded. Surfers should watch out for rips, undertow, and localism. The best conditions occur during autumn, particularly in September, when a southeast swell combines with offshore winds from the north-northeast, producing consistent clean waves.
