East Beach in Rhode Island is an exposed beach break with a sandy bottom, delivering consistent, rolling waves that cater to a wide range of skill levels—best conditions typically arrive in late summer through fall. Offshore northwest winds groom south and southeast swells, producing fun lefts and rights across multiple sandbars. The break works through various tide stages, though mid to high tide often offers the best shape and reduces closeouts. Crowds are generally moderate, with plenty of room to spread out along its long stretch of shoreline. Surfers should watch for strong rip currents and shifting sandbars after storms. The best surf is typically found in September and October.
