Pico de la Autopista in Andalucía is a fairly exposed reef break that only works occasionally, depending on the arrival of short-period east windswells. It performs best in summer, when offshore winds from the west help clean up the wave face. The bottom is rocky reef, producing a right-hand breaking wave that works best around low tide, though rocks in the lineup and on the inside make it a spot better suited to confident surfers. The break is rarely crowded, even when conditions line up. The best month to surf Pico de la Autopista is August.
