Medihya Plage in Tanger to Rabat is a fairly exposed reef break that offers its most consistent surfing opportunities during the autumn and winter months, while the summer is typically flat. It performs best when a strong northwest swell combines with offshore winds from the southeast. Most of the waves arrive in the form of clean Atlantic groundswells, producing a long, peeling right-hand peak over the rocky bottom that can become quite punchy and hollow when a solid swell is running. The surf is notably tide-sensitive and remains rideable primarily around low tide, which often provides the cleanest faces and best wave shapes. While it is a reliable spot along this stretch of coast, it is rarely crowded, usually allowing for a manageable lineup even when the conditions are optimal. Surfers should exercise caution and stay alert for hazards such as strong lateral currents, dangerous submerged rocks, and water pollution. The best conditions reported for surf at Medihya Plage occur when a Northwest swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the Southeast.
