πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Ruins is a mellow beach/reef break on Puerto Rico’s north coast that usually offers small to modest rideable surf, often in the knee-to-waist high range when swell energy is present and typically best for longboards or grovel boards. It tends to be poor to fair under typical trade wind conditions, with the cleanest waves early in the morning when winds are lighter, and works across most tide levels. While not known for powerful or large surf, Ruins can provide playable waves on smaller swell days and is a quieter alternative to more popular nearby breaks. The best month to surf Ruins for more consistent and rideable conditions is January.
