πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Guajataca is a wide, semi-protected beach break on Puerto Rico’s northwest coast that usually offers small to moderate, rideable waves when swell energy is present, though it can close out on weaker swells more often than reef or point breaks. The sand-bottom setup makes it suitable for surfers of all levels, and the lineup is typically mellow with plenty of space to spread out. Waves tend to work across most tide levels, and the cleanest conditions usually come during lighter winds, especially in the morning. The best month to surf Guajataca for more consistent and fun waves is January.
