El Penon Amador

El Peñon Amador in Puerto Rico is a fairly exposed reef break with inconsistent surf and no strong seasonal pattern, though it can produce quality waves when conditions align. The spot works best with north swells combined with offshore winds from the south-southeast and is influenced by both groundswells and windswells. Surf quality is largely unaffected by tide, and when the break is firing it can draw crowds. Surfers should exercise caution due to strong rips, submerged rocks, localism, and the occasional presence of sharks. The most reliable window for clean, rideable waves is during winter, particularly in November.
