It performs best when an east or east-southeast swell combines with offshore winds from the west or northwest. Most of the waves arrive in the form of local windswells, creating a variety of left and right-hand peaks across the sandy shoreline. The surf is notably versatile and remains rideable at all stages of the tide, making it a reliable choice for local surfers when a swell is running. While it is rarely excessively crowded, the lineup can become busy when conditions are optimal. Surfers should exercise caution and stay alert for hazards such as strong rips and potential debris near the Argens river mouth. The best conditions reported for surf at Esclamandes occur when an East swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the West-northwest.
