It works best with north to north‑northwest swells and offshore winds from the south, giving cleaner, more organized waves when conditions align, and it’s usually uncrowded thanks to its more remote access. Surfers should be aware of the rocky reef hazards in the lineup. The best month to surf Santa Iria is January, when winter swells and offshore winds most consistently produce clean, rideable conditions.
