Sanguessuga is an exposed reef break in Portugal - Alentejo that usually has waves, featuring both left and right-hand waves. The most favorable conditions are a West swell from local windswells or distant groundswells combined with offshore winds from the East. The break works best around high tide when the tide is rising. The spot is unlikely to be crowded, even when the surf is up. Surfers should be aware of rocks.
